Recognizing the Pharmacists Behind Every Prescription

With the theme, “Caring for our Communities,” October’s American Pharmacists Month 2026 highlights the many roles of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists in the nation’s healthcare system. Pharmacists are often the final checkpoint before a medication reaches a patient. They pay attention to possible interactions, confirm appropriate dosing, and answer questions and concerns.

Liviniti is a PBM founded by pharmacists. We know that whether they are standing behind a retail counter or working behind the scenes at a PBM, pharmacists dedicate their careers to protecting patient safety and improving health outcomes.

Our pharmacists play a role that extends well beyond the counter. They review drug utilization to ensure members are receiving safe and clinically appropriate therapies, and conduct clinical activities and formulary reviews, in addition to focusing on solutions that help manage costly and complex conditions. This behind-the-scenes clinical oversight helps ensure that the medications members receive are not only covered, but genuinely right for their health needs.

Pharmacists in all their roles are among the most accessible and trusted healthcare professionals in the country. Beyond dispensing, they administer vaccines, and serve as a trusted source of health guidance in communities where access to a physician may be limited. Nearly 90% of the US population lives within 5 miles of a pharmacy. Pharmacists are the 4th most trusted profession according to Gallup, and 60-70% of adult vaccinations during flu season take place at pharmacies. To sum it up, pharmacists are an anchor to the healthcare system, a resource that many people interact with more often than any other provider.

We applaud our Liviniti pharmacy team for the expertise and commitment they extend to members and clients every day.
