In October, we celebrate pharmacists as part of American Pharmacists Month. At Liviniti, pharmacists apply their expertise in many departments, working in roles that span clinical, product, sales, operational and executive areas of the company. While many healthcare organizations are led by individuals from a business background, Liviniti is fortunate to have the best of both worlds in CEO LeAnn Boyd, who combines strong business leadership with her background as a PharmD.
“As a national leader in PBM transparency and prescription drug savings, our pharmacists are expert at navigating the complex landscape of pharmacy benefits,” explains LeAnn. “They work every day to overcome obstacles that stand in the way of optimal health outcomes and help plan members afford their medications.”
Selected by Modern Healthcare as one of its Women Leaders for 2024, LeAnn is among an elite group of influential women working to improve the patient experience while advancing the objectives of their own healthcare organizations. She has long challenged the PBM industry to adopt practices that make prescription drugs more affordable and accessible to the millions of consumers who depend on lifesaving and lifechanging drug therapies.
“Pharmacists are among the most accessible and trusted healthcare professionals,” LeAnn says. “I am proud that our Liviniti pharmacists are true innovators of solutions.”
In addition to the vital role of pharmacists in the PBM arena, the 2024 American Pharmacists Month theme, Caring for Our Communities, speaks to the expanding role of this profession in all practice settings.
- 74% of vaccinations now take place at pharmacies.
- 90% of the US population lives within 5 miles of a pharmacy, where pharmacists often bridge the gap between the patient and healthcare provider.
Every day across the US, 700,000 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and student pharmacists work to improve public health in their communities and businesses. During American Pharmacists Month, we are proud to acknowledge their valuable work in providing safe, accessible, affordable and beneficial healthcare services.
