Liviniti Celebrates 10 Years of Excellence in Pharmacy Residencies

In 2014, Liviniti made a commitment to future pharmacists by launching a postgraduate, year 1 (PGY1) Managed Care/PBM Residency Program. Today the program attracts applications from dozens of newly graduated pharmacists eager to expand their horizons with broad-based, PBM experience.

As a vital part of healthcare, pharmacists are trusted experts who provide essential guidance and services. Ranked on the 2023 Gallup Honesty & Ethics poll as the 6th most trusted profession in the US, they stand at the center of PBM clinical programs and guide initiatives that reduce healthcare costs.

“On the 10th anniversary of our residency program, we are proud of the big-picture view of pharmacy that we share with pharmacists at the start of their careers,” says William Bell, Director, Clinical Client Services and Managed Care/PBM Residency Program. “Depending on their interests, residents may rotate through finance, call center operations, prior authorization, data analytics, formulary management and other areas as they explore both the business and people sides of pharmacy.”

Over the past decade, 19 pharmacists have completed the Liviniti residency program, launching them to vital roles at some of the best-known companies in healthcare. The program’s first resident, Travis Baughn, is now VP, Clinical Solutions for a large PBM.

As an industry leader that pioneered the pass-through, transparent PBM business model, Liviniti is known as for its integrity and innovative approach. The Liviniti mission resonates with residents and some have chosen to build their careers with the company. “Being a resident at Liviniti helped me realize the importance of working for a company whose values align with mine,” says Grace Lee, PharmD, who completed her residency in 2024. “I can see the positive impact that my work is making, which I believe is a unique experience that you can only get at a growing company like Liviniti.”

Jessica Dotson, PharmD, 2021 resident, comments that, “The knowledge I gained over the one-year program provided me with the confidence to successfully transition into all the positions I have held.” Now a Liviniti employee, Jessica joined the company as a prior authorization pharmacist and currently serves as clinical account executive. “I firmly believe participating in the Liviniti residency program was vital to my success,” she adds. “It is the reason I have been able to be so successful in so many different areas and positions in my career so far.

“Over the years, our residency program has grown in many ways,” William Bell adds. “Resident pharmacists are embarking on an exciting time at the beginning of their careers. We want them to succeed and are giving them the tools and diverse experiences to do that.”
