Exploring a Career Path with our Flexible Residency Program

For more than a decade, Liviniti has supported the careers of new pharmacists through the postgraduate, year 1 (PGY1) Managed Care/PBM Residency Program. Pharmacists are becoming increasingly critical to healthcare in the US, administering vaccines, providing education and advice, and dispensing vital medication.

In the clinical residency program, Liviniti helps launch pharmacists into a wide range of successful roles within the healthcare system. Since its start, we’ve graduated dozens of pharmacy residents, helping them understand the role and value of managed care services within the pharmacy industry.

“Rather than just teaching our residents managed care and PBM operations, we ask them the question, ‘What are YOU interested in?’” says William Bell, Director, Clinical Client Services and Managed Care/PBM Residency Program. “And they’re all eager to learn. By crafting their own residency, these pharmacists get the opportunity to explore any and all areas they’re interested in – from formularies to marketing to clinical program development.”

Current resident, Wendy Fang, PharmD, RPh, says her time at Liviniti so far has been valuable and fulfilling. “I feel I have gained so much professionally and personally since I first started,” she states. “I look forward to learning even more, receiving additional training, and further developing my skills as I progress in the program.”

Another key part to the residency is the mentorship program, where residents receive professional and life guidance from peers who were recently in their shoes.

“Ten members of our current clinical staff have gone through the program,” Bill states. “Every resident gets assigned two mentors to lean on, who are very generous with their support.” Current staff members advise residents based on their own experiences with a variety of business topics.

Kailee Peters, PharmD, MBA, current resident, mentions how important this culture of openness has been for her. “Everyone at Liviniti is incredibly welcoming and always willing to support residents, which has made my experience a truly positive one.” Kailee is a graduate of Concordia University – Wisconsin, and looks forward to diving into advanced clinical projects in the new year.

As the application period for the 2026-2027 season begins, Bill is excited for the current residents to pass the baton. “I always say, ‘Remember where you came from.’ You picked pharmacy for a reason. Feel empowered by the autonomy to choose your path, but also by the values that led you here.” This mutual respect has become the foundation for the program’s success.

Current clinical resident, Jory Morgan, PharmD, suggests that incoming residents always stay curious. “Liviniti is a growing company that is disrupting the status-quo of the PBM space. The opportunity to grow with the company is invaluable,” Jory states. “Ask questions, and don’t be afraid to get involved in projects. Having a proactive mindset will drive success and build lasting connections.”
